Foundation staff stopped by the University of South Carolina on Wednesday to visit with three current McNair Scholars. Robert and Janice McNair established the McNair Scholars program to encourage exceptional students from Rutherford County to attend USC by providing up to $135,000 over four years.
“It was great to meet and catch up with the people who have made my secondary education possible for the past three years. I couldn’t have done it without them.” said Matthew Mull, a 2018 graduate of East Rutherford High School.
“I have always, and I mean always, had positive experiences with the McNair staff.” said Macy Sherburne, a 2019 graduate of East Rutherford High School. “Their visit to UofSC was a breath of fresh air to see familiar faces and to be reminded of the support system through the McNair Foundation.”
Emma Wilkie, a 2020 graduate of East Rutherford High School said, "It was so great to see them. I am majoring in psychology and I plan on continuing my education to pursue clinical psychology. It's so comforting to have such a supportive group of people from back at home, and it was really nice to see all of them."
