MENTORS

The McNair Mentors program is the most significant and largest program provided by McNair Educational Foundation. Over 200 adults volunteer as Mentors for middle and high school students. Each student is assigned a Mentor in the seventh grade and that Mentor stays with the student through high school graduation.

Mentors meet with students individually to review:

  • The students’ grades

  • Course selection

  • Attendance & behavior

  • Participation in extra-curricular activities

  • SAT/ACT registration

  • College and scholarship research

  • College application completion

FINANCIAL
ASSISTANCE

McNair Mentors recognize that financial barriers prevent many students from achieving academic success.

To help ease the burden, Mentors at each high school established the
East Mary O. Hamrick Fund, Chase Angel Fund, RS Hilltopper Fund and EXPO Award.

East Mary O. Hamrick Fund, Chase Angel Fund, and RS Hilltopper Fund

These funds were established to assist students with demonstrated financial need that may be a barrier to academic success. Funds are provided by Mentors through fundraising, personal donations, and memorial donations. Teachers, guidance counselors, Mentors, or administrators may request this financial assistance for students.
